They need to do it again

They simply took a repair manual from pre-EFI sportsters, and added, literally added an appendix at the end for the fuel injection years. So, when you need to do something, you wind up flipping around several different parts of the book to get all the instructions. They obviously did this to save money. They should have a manual for the electronic fuel injection model years specifically, and separately. But the sad thing is, there's not much out there for EFI. Were stuck with this.

Clymer Harley Davidson Sportster Manual

The manual contains more information than a person would normally need, but when you need it, you need it. I've had Clymer manuals for all of my bikes (Hondas, Triumphs, Suzukis, and Harleys). The only complaint about this one is that my 2013 Sportster Forty-Eight is not covered in the main text. Features of this bike are included in the supplement at the end. So now I have to cross reference between the normal text and the supplement at the back of the book to do anything. With electronic publishing on-demand, it seems that it would have been easy to integrate the supplement with the main text. I guess I just bought this book in the wrong year. It also seems to me that this would be a good product to publish as a pdf or some other electronic format so that one could view it on their laptop while working on the bike.

Best With Harley-Davidson's Service Manual

You still should have and use the factory Harley-Davidson service manual due to its enhanced size and details, but this Clymer manual picks up favorable points to buy this book. This manual has fantastic step-by-step troubleshooting flow-charts and instructions for troubleshooting the electric and electronic and all of the engine sensors and how to test those sensors to see if they are functioning. That is worth the price of this book alone! You really do need this Clmer manual to find out what is wrong with the bike/engine before you can fix it. The H-D manual lacks troubleshooting of the electrical/sensors. If you can not afford the H-D manual and need one manual to get started, then get this Clymer manual. Engine/transmission/drive train overhaul are also covered and great detail is given to measure wear on components (bearings/shafts/gears) which I found to be pleasing to see in a shop manual. Do yourself a favor, get this Clymer manual. You will be satisfied! JamesRussellPublishing.com

Practical, detailed, and illuminating

This practical guide for English teachers should find a large audience, especially in MA classes on ESL methodology. Combining personal insights, detailed interview with fellow ESL teachers, and a survey of recent research and an acute awareness that context matters, Keith Folse has written an outstanding primer for conversation teachers and tutors.
His 20 short vignettes in Chapter 3 (What does a Conversation Class Look Like) are worth the coverprice alone. If you have already, or you plan to teach a conversation class, I strongly recommend this outstanding primer.

An Excellent Introduction

As a relatively new EFL teacher, I appreciate Dr. Folse's insights. One of the most important aspects that jumps out at me is his emphasis on the need to teach the language "for" and "in" the learning task. While this may seem like common sense, I've noticed that it's not always common practice. The book is a nice blend of theory and practice.

The reader can tell that Folse has taught speaking in a number of contexts and that he's familiar with research in the field of TESOL. He communicates information in a way that beginning teachers can understand. There are also nice sections describing speaking classes in a number of different contexts around the world along with activities that work and don't work.

Finally, I enjoyed the humble approach he takes in describing his own development as an English teacher early in his career. Overall, I feel enriched as a teacher after reading the book.

Guidance from one of the best

Keith Folse has well-earned legendary status in the ESL/EFL community worldwide. He's a prolific author of practical teaching guides that are invariably useful to teachers of any category or level. He's also a fine speaker who skips over the academic language in favor of what is classroom useful. I heard him introduce this particular publication at a TOFEL conference a few years ago and was impressed enough to buy the book. I've used it off and on since in preparing material and lesson plans for my adult professional classes and tutorial sessions.

What is particularly good in the content is his stress on cultural awareness--who are you teaching? where are they coming from as they learn? The book also very helpfully includes negative examples supplied by Folse and other teachers from a wide variety of teaching contexts. This is an excellent resource book for any ESL/EFL teacher, particularly one who might be working in an overseas environment.

Thus Spoke Zarathustra: A Book for All and None (German: Also sprach Zarathustra: Ein Buch f�r Alle und Keinen, also translated as Thus Spake Zarathustra) is a philosophical novel by German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, composed in four parts between 1883 and 1885 and published between 1883 and 1891. Much of the work deals with ideas such as the "eternal recurrence of the same", the parable on the "death of God", and the "prophecy" of the �bermensch, which were first introduced in The Gay Science.

Thus Spoke Zarathustra was conceived while Nietzsche was writing The Gay Science; he made a small note, reading "6,000 feet beyond man and time," as evidence of this. More specifically, this note related to the concept of the eternal recurrence, which is, by Nietzsche's admission, the central idea of Zarathustra; this idea occurred to him by a "pyramidal block of stone" on the shores of Lake Silvaplana in the Upper Engadine, a high alpine region whose valley floor is at 6,000 feet (1,800 m). Nietzsche planned to write the book in three parts over several years. He wrote that the ideas for Zarathustra first came to him while walking on two roads surrounding Rapallo, according to Elisabeth F�rster-Nietzsche in the introduction of Thomas Common's early translation of the book.

Although Part Three was originally planned to be the end of the book, and ends with a strong climax, Nietzsche subsequently decided to write an additional three parts; ultimately, however, he composed only the fourth part, which is viewed to constitute an intermezzo.

Nietzsche commented in Ecce Homo that for the completion of each part: "Ten days sufficed; in no case, neither for the first nor for the third and last, did I require more" (trans. Kaufmann). The first three parts were first published separately, and were subsequently published in a single volume in 1887. The fourth part remained private after Nietzsche wrote it in 1885; a scant forty copies were all that were printed, apart from seven others that were distributed to Nietzsche's close friends. In March 1892, the four parts were finally reprinted as a single volume. Since then, the version most commonly produced has included all four parts.

The original text contains a great deal of word-play. An example of this is the use of words beginning �ber ("over" or "above") and unter ("down" or "below"), often paired to emphasise the contrast, which is not always possible to bring out in translation, except by coinages. An example is Untergang, literally "down-going" but used in German to mean "setting" (as of the sun), which Nietzsche pairs with its opposite �bergang (going over or across). Another example is �bermensch (overman or superman), discussed later in this article.

, also translated as Thus Spoke Zarathustra. Treatise by Friedrich Nietzsche, written in four parts and published in German between 1883 and 1885 as Also sprach Zarathustra. The work is incomplete, but it is the first thorough statement of Nietzsche's mature philosophy and the masterpiece of his career. It received little attention during his lifetime but its influence since his death has been considerable, in the arts as well as philosophy. Written in the form of a prose narrative, Thus Spake Zarathustra offers the philosophy of its author through the voice of Zarathustra (based on the Persian prophet Zoroaster) who, after years of meditation, has come down from a mountain to offer his wisdom to the world. It is this work in which Nietzsche made his famous (and much misconstrued) statement that "God is dead" and in which he presented some of the most influential and well-known (and likewise misunderstood) ideas of his philosophy, including those of the Ubermensch ("overman" or "superman") and the "will to power." Though this is essentially a work of philosophy, it is also a masterpiece of literature. Talk about translations!

I only want to say one thing here, and I say it primarily because I already love this work. This is the translation to buy. Everyone seems to adore Kaufmann, but the truth is he's much more obtuse and difficult to read (and I don't believe it's necessary, as some may say). Hollingdale gets it right. I'll defend myself with one example from a class I took, where Kaufmann's translation was the required text. I had read both translations (cover-to-cover), and sold my copy of Kaufmann's translation, keeping only my Hollingdale. So, needless to say, I wasn't about to buy Kaufmann again, and went to class with Hollingdale. Slowly, but surely, as the other students read bits of the translation I had, or heard when I spoke pieces aloud, they overwhelmingly agreed with me: Hollingdale is simply more clear, more beautiful, more powerful (less academic, shall we say, which is pure Nietzsche). Ok, over and out, enjoy.

Review for the non-philosopher

There seem to be plenty of reviews debating the philosophical principles of Nietszche and the statements he makes, so, for the non-philosophy students present (i.e. ME) I'll rate it for the layman.
`TSZ' is very longwinded, and as the introduction states, filled with `excess', but that does not make it a bad book. Every sentence is imbued with its own iconic poetry, and, philosophy aside, the metaphors and similes alone make this book worth reading. It is clear that Nietszche, or perhaps his translator, had a mind better suited to creative expression than most philosophers, or indeed today's authors, and it is in this that lies the book's real strength. Through its use of imagery it not only makes an interesting, inspirational, conjectural read (apart from a few really boring parts that seemed written only to slow down the pace), it makes its message easy to understand and backs it up with surrealistic examples. Whereas sometimes in philosophy, the use of allegory can confuse the issue (More's `Utopia' - mockery of idealism, framework for perfect society, or rambling tale?), in `Zarathustra' the reader, no matter whether they are new to the field or not, cannot fail to discern the message that Man is not a goal but a bridge, a rope over an abyss. As philosophy, and as literature, it succeeds in conveying its point, setting up a platform for discussion or merely to digest individually. Admittedly, some refuse to read Nietszche because of his view of women (`shallow waters'), and because of how his ideas for the Superman allegedly inspired Hitler's Aryan vision for the world, but such people deprive themselves of an interesting viewpoint that defines the meaning of life in human rather than spiritual terms.
One potential problem for the newcomer to philosophy is the storyline. For a man remembered for the statement `God is dead', Nietszche obviously drew inspiration from the Bible, for Zarathustra is strongly reminiscent of Jesus, recruiting disciples and disappearing into the wilderness with a frequency that Bigfoot would be proud of. The problem with an allegorical tale is the reader's propensity for bringing western narrative expectations to it - `Zarathustra' is a text-book, not a story, but sometimes you do find yourself waiting for the climax, the big show-down, the cinematic denouement. So long as you remember that it is philosophy, not a novel, and so long as you appreciate each segment as an expressive point and not part of a conventional plot, there should be no troubles. I'll leave you with a sample of Nietzsche's verbal wizardry:
`It is the stillest words which bring the storm. Thoughts that come on doves' feet guide the world.'

Caution

This is the Thomas Common translation of the text. I was redirected here from the much more widely acclaimed Parkes translation. I don't know if this was a mistake or deliberate subterfuge. But FYI, here is what Wikipedia has to say about the various translations available (this entry accords with common scholarly opinion on the translations):

English translations of Zarathustra differ according to the sentiments of each translators. The Thomas Common translation favors a classic English approach, in the style of Shakespeare or the King James Version of the Bible. Common's poetic interpretation of the text, which renders the title Thus Spake Zarathustra, received wide acclaim for its lambent portrayal. Common reasoned that because the original German was written in a pseudo-Luther-Biblical style, a pseudo-King-James-Biblical style would be fitting in the English translation.

The Common translation, which improved on Alexander Tille's earlier attempt,[10] remained widely accepted until the more critical translations, titled Thus Spoke Zarathustra, separately by R.J. Hollingdale and Walter Kaufmann, which are considered to convey more accurately the German text than the Common version. Kaufmann's introduction to his own translation included a blistering critique of Common's version; he notes that in one instance, Common has taken the German "most evil" and rendered it "baddest", a particularly unfortunate error not merely for his having coined the term "baddest", but also because Nietzsche dedicated a third of The Genealogy of Morals to the difference between "bad" and "evil".[10] This and other errors led Kaufmann to wonder whether Common "had little German and less English".[10] The translations of Kaufmann and Hollingdale render the text in a far more familiar, less archaic, style of language, than that of Common.

Clancy Martin's 2005 translation opens with criticism and praise for these three seminal translators, Common, Hollingdale, and Kaufmann. He notes that the German text available to Common was considerably flawed, and that the German text from which Hollingdale and Kaufmann worked was itself untrue to Nietzsche's own work in some ways. Martin criticizes Kaufmann for changing punctuation, altering literal and philosophical meanings, and dampening some of Nietzsche's more controversial metaphors.[11] Kaufmann's version, which has become the most widely available, features a translator's note suggesting that Nietzsche's text would have benefited from an editor; Martin suggests that Kaufmann "took it upon himself to become his [Nietzsche's] editor".[11]

Graham Parkes describes his own 2005 translation as trying "above all to convey the musicality of the text (which was not a priority for Walter Kaufmann or R.J. Hollingdale, authors of the best English translations so far)."[12]

About the Author
Dr. Leland Hartwell is President and Director of Seattle’s Fred Hutchinson CancerResearch Center and Professor of Genome Sciences at the University of Washington.Dr. Hartwell’s primary research contributions were in identifying genes that controlcell division in yeast, including those necessary for the division process as well asthose necessary for the fi delity of genome reproduction. Subsequently, many of thesesame genes have been found to control cell division in humans and oft en to be thesite of alteration in cancer cells.Dr. Hartwell is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and has receivedthe Albert Lasker Basic Medical Research Award, the Gairdner FoundationInternational Award, the Genetics Society Medal, and the 2001 Nobel Prize inPhysiology or Medicine.

Dr. Janice Fischer is a Professor at The University of Texas at Austin, where she is an award-winning teacher of genetics and Director of the Biology Instructional Office. She received her Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology from Harvard University, and did postdoctoral research at The University of California at Berkeley and The Whitehead Institute at MIT. In her current research, Dr. Fischer uses Drosophila to examine the roles of ubiquitin and endocytosis in cell signaling during development.

Dr. Charles Aquadro (Chip) is Professor of Population Genetics, the Charles A. Alexander Professor of Biological Sciences, and Director of the Center for Comparative and Population Genomics at Cornell University. He obtained his Ph.D. in genetics from the University of Georgia, was a postdoc at the National Institute for Environmental Health Sciences/NIH, and joined the faculty at Cornell University in 1985 where he is now a professor. He has served as President of the Society of Molecular Biology and Evolution, is an elected Fellow of the AAAS, is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for National Geographic Society’s Genographic Project, was a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for the WGBH/NOVA TV series “Evolution,” and has been a visiting scholar at Cambridge University (England, 1993) and Harvard University (2007). His research and teaching focuses on molecular population genetics, molecular evolution, and comparative genomics. While Drosophila is his primary research system, recent work has also involved yeast, humans, and plants. At Cornell, he teaches a university-wide course to nonmajors on personal genomics and medicine, and a major’s course in population genetics.

Dr. Michael Goldberg is a professor at Cornell University, where he teaches introductorygenetics and human genetics. He was an undergraduate at Yale Universityand received his Ph.D. in biochemistry from Stanford University. Dr. Goldberg performedpostdoctoral research at the Biozentrum of the University of Basel (Switzerland)and at Harvard University, and he received an NIH Fogarty Senior InternationalFellowship for study at Imperial College (England) and fellowships from theFondazione Cenci Bolognetti for sabbatical work at the University of Rome (Italy).His current research uses the tools of Drosophila genetics and the biochemical analysisof frog egg cell extracts to investigate the mechanisms that ensure proper cellcycle progression and chromosome segregation during mitosis and meiosis.

Dr. Hood received an MD from the Johns Hopkins Medical Schooland a PhD in Biochemistry from the California Institute of Technology. His research interests include immunology, development and the development of biological instrumentation (e.g. the protein sequenator and the automated fluorescent DNA sequencer). His research played a key role in unraveling the mysteries of anitbody diversity. Dr. Hood has taught molecular evolution, immunology, molecular biology and biochemistry. he is currently the Chairman (and founder) of the cross-disciplinary Department of Molecular Biotechnology at the University of Washington. Dr. Hood has received a variety of awards including the Albert Lasker Award for Medical Research (1987), Dickson Price (1987), Cefas Award for Biochemistry (1989), and the Distinguished Service Award from the national Association of Teachers (1998). He is deeply involved in K-12 science educatiohn. His hobbies include running, mountain climbing, and reading.

Pros:
- page quality is good-- same as every hard-cover textbooks.
- Large texts so it's very easy to read, especially if you have to cram 2-3 chapters over 1 night.
- Pictures & diagrams are life-savers. They're probably the best thing about this book. You can easily understand concepts by looking at them for just a few seconds.
- book is pretty thin
- my professor literally follows the book, so if I miss a lecture or space out during class, I can just read the book and be perfectly fine for tests

Cons:
- Sometimes it gets a bit wordy. I feel like they could've worded it better for cleaner, more precised explanations (of course, after I understood the concept)

The text was pretty good. There were times where the language was confusing but overall it was good.

The only thing is that if your professor is making you buy the online homework system affiliated with this textbook, I recommend just purchasing the paper copy online. It's less than twenty dollars and you can put the chapters in your binder as you need to. And you can write all over it.

I rented the textbook from Amazon. Delivery was fast and return was easy.

Very helpful book

Answers most of my questions.

New to air fryers, I have been "reading up" on the features and uses for this new tool. Three other cook books each answered some of my questions, but not enough to feel comfortable with my new toy.

This book offers recipes conversion charts and practical guidelines for getting to know the machine.

Helpful free reference websites are also listed at the back of the book.

Regular cooking for regular folk.

Great product for the price, really nice simple recipes for the every day family and two person house hold. I love the fact that most of the recipes are what all of us cook on a every day basis. This will not be sitting in a cupboard with 50 other cook books. This will be used every day. If you want a air fryer cook book with chicken and pork chops and different potatoes along with stuff you have in your home then this is the one. No fancy dishes just good home cooking.

Of the 5 books , I purchased on air fryer recipes, this one was the best written. This book included the number of servings for the recipes and it seems to be the only book that had been edited before printing.

About the Author
Christiane Sanderson is a lecturer in Psychology at London University, Birkbeck College, and Consultant in the School of Psychology and Therapeutic Studies, University of Surrey, Roehampton. With 15 years' experience working in the child sexual abuse field, she has run workshops for parents, teachers, social workers, nurses, therapists and counsellors to increase knowledge and awareness of CSA. She is the author of Counselling Adult Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse (2nd edition), also published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers.

Let's attempt to understand child abuse

A fascinating book, written by a professional and surely a parent. Eventhough the subject is difficult, this book gives plenty of arguments why it is crucial to reflect afresh on the subject, take a positive pro-active attitude towards prevention and help for victims and abusers. Not a light read by any means, but definetly a must for anyone seriously interested in the welfare and well-being of children within the family, as well as within the community.
