involving women is vital

The articles in the book draw on the Indian context of development. Mostly about female participation in the process. An idea is that for effective addressing of women's interests, an active involvement by them is vital.

One article discusses female inventors. Statistics from the US Patent and Trademark Office are quoted that show impressive gains since a century ago. But still only a few percent of inventors are women. This describing of patents is in the framework of considering knowledge as power. PTO data is useful as it easily provides reliable metrics of change. Instead of just having a general discourse with no hard numbers of participation.

I wish she had more books out there!

Ms. Ogden's writing has a touch of Oliver Sacks-like quality. Not only does she describe each patient's clinical assessment in terms of scores on neuropsychological testing batteries, but she also describes the processes by which the patients cope with their medical problems and how they affect their lives. The patients are seen as human beings overcoming difficulties, rather than anonymous cases. A great book for those interested in clinical neuropsychology. This book was also be very useful as a text book, as it describes medically what's happening to each patient as well as how it affects them behaviorally on neuropsychological testing and socially in their everyday lives.

Interesting and very informative

For several years, I have used this book for an undergraduate class I teach on Neuropsychology. The chapters, which each focus on a distinct type of brain damage or disorder, are well written and a relatively easy read. They also do an excellent job of covering the science of what causes each type of damage and why the damage impacts behavior the way that it does. My students seem to really enjoy each chapter and Ogden's discussion of her patients stimulate a great deal of discussion in class. I find Ogden's coverage to be more comprehensive and detailed than Oliver Sacks but she is certainly no less interesting to read.

This is a great read

Dr. Ogden brings to life the case study approach. She writes well, clear and is informative. She gives us basic definitions in neurology and spells them out clearly; the difference between alexia and dyslexia, for example. She focuses on the machinery at the neurologists disposal and the testing battery of the neuropsychologist. She tells how each person tends to be one minute normal, the next, no so. She follows closely how something like neurotoxicity develops, a people cope with neurological illness and follows them in treatment. The book is full of learning material. I highly recommend it to the practicing psychologist or neuropsychologist, or someone curious about how the brain functions.

I am a BIG fan of code words. These can't be found in stores every where. Not quite crossword, not quite sudoku. A game in it's own league! match each letter to the corresponding number from 1-26. Each puzzle has a different number.

Favorite Chapter!

If you've read from the beginning and are a fan, then Great. Anyways, this chapter [Slight spoilers] takes the direction the main character sought after. There's lots of drama, and excitement, I only wish Amazon had a Japanese manga section. That way I don't have to look hard for some of my favourite Manga. This also motivated me to learn Japanese more and more, and hopefully one day I can start reading my favourite J books without trouble.

This volume is a must have for any fans of the series.

Bone chilling!

This was more emotional than the first in the series. I can't even imagine what Ethan had to of gone through. This story is bone chilling and very freaky. Whenever "Lothar" would show up I would get freaky images of him in my head and goosebumps and my hair would stick up on the back of my next. I really wish Victoria wouldn't be into him so much, she should be asking Dr. Baggins ways of helping when Lothar appears. I was so thankful when Jeff came into Ethan's life, not so much with how it turned out. I really hope that something good happens, or something good happens with the story in the future, I want Ethan happy. After all he has been through since he was a child, he deserves this. He loves Victoria. I pray Lothar does not do anything to her when he "shows" her what happened to the other women. Sigh, Aphrodite you have done it again! Bone chilling and a must read series all!!!

Great series. A must read......I am anxiously awaiting the next book - however I cant find any info on when it will be released. This series has a unique story line, interesting characters, a nice mix of steamy mixed with an interesting story, etc. I was pleasantly surprised - I honestly did not expect to enjoy it so much - I saw it recommended on one of the reading blogs on facebook! There are a few grammatical errors but nothing major. The story was so good that this did not bother me!
